The Dinagyang is a religious and cultural festival in Iloilo City, Philippines held on the fourth Sunday of January, or right after the Sinulog In Cebu and the Ati-Atihan in Aklan. It is held both to honor the Santo Niño and to celebrate the arrival on Panay of Malay settlers and the subsequent selling of the island to them by the Atis.
The Ati-Atihan dance competition is one of the highlights of Dinagyang 2013, a religious and cultural festival in Iloilo City honoring the Santo Niño.
Aside from cash, the grand champion will get to represent Dinagyang to national and international festivals, the report said. The 1st runner-up, meanwhile, will get P150,000; 2nd runner-up P125,000; 3rd runner-up P100,000 and the 4th runner-up will bag P75,000.
